Although the board continues to debate the reasons for commissioning the report and contends that it never formally accepted the findings of the report, the findings have been used by the NCAA to impose unprecedented sanctions on the football program and is being used by various attorneys to obtain monetary pay outs for damages claimed by apparent victims of Sandusky.
In contrast, an investigation commissioned by the Paterno Family, which included independent reviews of the Freeh Report by experts in the fields of sexual psychology, pedophile profiles and legal analysis has not warranted so much as a peep from the collective board, despite the fact that these experts found that the conclusions reached by Freeh had no basis in fact. Further, Jim Clemente, an abuse survivor and experienced profiler of child sex offenders, contends that the Freeh report, by ignoring the entire issue of victim/community grooming and the behaviors of offenders actually does a disservice to society in general. Although a few of Penn State's board members have called for an official review of the Freeh Report, there remains resistance to finding (or perhaps reporting) the real truth of what happened at Penn State.
When will the Penn State Board of Trustees keep it's promise to become more open and transparent and finally acknowledge the lies and contradictions that are The Freeh Report?
